Event Details
The Third Annual Silicon Valley Hispanic Youth Institute kicks off this summer with a college empowerment program hosted at Santa Clara University. The kick-off program brings together Hispanic high school students for an intensive four days and three nights, where they learn to overcome both real and perceived barriers to college access. Throughout the on-campus experience, the students build their confidence and receive practical tools to help them along their pathway to college. Upon completion of the on-campus program, students are enrolled into year-round programming that reinforces the key themes of college, career, and community, encouraging them to promote a college-going culture to their peers throughout the remainder of their high school years. Nationwide, the Hispanic Youth Institute has served over 4,000 students since 2004.
